ProStructures Dataset Migration

ProStructures datasets-the subfolders of WorkSpace\ProStructures\Localised\-were migrated to the CONNECT edition as ProStructures-extended workspaces. However, files that are common to most datasets and that are not typically modified by users were moved to programInstalDirectory\ProStructures\Defaults\.

ProStructures3DModeling.dgnlib

The US-specific levels-the ones named G-xxx, S-xxx, and SR-xxx-were moved from the ProStructures3DModeling.dgn into a new USA_Canada3DModeling.dgnlib file. USA_Canada3DModeling.dgnlib is delivered only in the USA_Canada_Imperial and USA_Canada_Metric workspaces.

FactorySettings

A generic set of metric and Imperial factory settings was moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific factory settings should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\FactorySettings and PS_FACTORYSETTINGS should be added to a workspace configuration file.

Also, the .fac extension is for detail style dialogs. Factory settings for all other dialogs use a .sve extension. You may need to rename files.

Drawing Frames/Borders

A commonly-used set of metric and Imperial drawing frame/border .dgn files was moved to the product directory. Any dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Details\Frames and PS_DRAWINGFRAMES should be added to a workspace configuration file.

Partlist Images

In SS8, references to external image files in templates were relative to the location of the template, e.g. BMP\cuttingforms.jpg in the "cutting" templates. This setup is still valid in the CONNECT Edition. Simply move the image files while maintaining the same relationship to the templates, e.g. workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Partlist\BMP\cuttingforms.jpg.

A more flexible setup is available in the CONNECT Edition. A variable named CfgVar.StaticImagePath is available in templates for the folder containing external image files. The value is the current setting of $(PS_PARTLISTIMAGE) in standard templates and $(PS_CONCRETEPARTLISTIMAGE) in concrete templates.

The delivered templates for cut shapes are updated to use CfgVar.StaticImagePath for the folder holding the "cut" images. The default setting for PS_PARTLISTIMAGE finds them in the product directory.

Partlist Logos

A product or company logo is a common feature in a partlist or bill of material. In SS8, the logo is either embedded in the template or referenced with a hard-coded (relative) path and file name.

A more customizable setup is available in the CONNECT Edition. A variable named CfgVar.LogoImageFIle is available in templates to specify an external logo image file. The value is the current setting of $(PS_PARTLISTLOGO).

The delivered templates are updated to use CfgVar.LogoImageFile for all logos. The default setting for PS_PARTLISTLOGO is a ProStructures CONNECT Edition image. Changing the PS_PARTLISTLOGO value will customize a delivered template with your company logo without modifying the template.

Seed Files

A default set of metric and Imperial seed files were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific seed files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Seeds\ and PS_SEEDFILES and MS_DESIGNSEED should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Dispatch Cells

A default set of metric and Imperial dispatch cell .dgn files was moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\DispatchCells and PS_DISPATCHCELL should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Benchmarks/North Arrows

A default set of metric and Imperial benchmark/north arrow .dgn files was moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Benchmarks and PS_BENCHMARKUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Concrete Panel Inserts

A default set of metric and Imperial concrete panel insert .dgn files was moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\PanelInserts and PS_PANELINSERT should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Elevation Flag Symbols

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined elevation flag symbols were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn and .bmp files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\ElevationFlags and PS_ELEVATIONFLAGUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Grid Bubbles

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined grid bubbles were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\WorkFrames\GridBubbles and PS_GRIDBUBBLEUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Handrail Fillings

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined handrail fillings were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Handrails\Fillings and PS_HANDRAILFILLINGUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Handrail Posts

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined handrail posts were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Handrails\Posts and PS_HANDRAILPOSTUSER should be set in workspace configuration file.

HoleDisplay Symbols

A typical set of symbols to use in place of true geometry for holes in drawings was moved to the product directory. Any dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Details\HoleDisplay\ and PS_HOLEDISPLAYUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Manual Cut Symbols

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined manual cut symbols were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Details\ManualCuts and PS_MANUALCUTUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Position Flag Symbols

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined position flag symbols were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\PositionFlags and PS_POSITIONFLAGUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Stair Steps

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined stair step were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn and .bmp files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Stairs\Steps and PS_STAIRSTEPUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Weld Flags

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined flags for weld symbols were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Welds\Flags and PS_WELDFLAGUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Weld Opposite Signs

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined opposite-side signs for weld symbols were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn and .bmp files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Welds\Opposite and PS_WELDOPPOSITEUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

Weld Signs

The common (and duplicated) example files for user-defined signs for weld symbols were moved to the product directory. Dataset-specific .dgn and .bmp files should be moved to workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\Welds\Signs and PS_WELDSIGNUSER should be set in a workspace configuration file.

UserBlocks To UserParts

In SS8, the UserBlocks directory was the default location of a directory tree containing blocks (design files) managed by the Block Center tool.

In the CONNECT Edition, the User Part Center tool manages the parts (design files) in the directories listed in the PS_USERPARTS configuration variable. Parts in subdirectories are not managed unless the subdirectories are listed in $(PS_USERPARTS). The default setting is all first-level subdirectories of workSpace\Standards\ProStructures\UserParts\.

Note: Design files for user-defined symbols and options used by other tools have been moved out of the UserParts directory.
